Rules

General Rules

• Be respectful to both members and mods.

•This is a PG-13 group.
No mature deviations (sexual content/explicit violence or gore/strong language etc.) will be accepted, regardless of the use of dA's filters. Censor anything inappropriate accordingly or don't submit it. Don't link to any mature content in descriptions either.

• Original characters only
Don't copy existing characters from other members. You may reuse OCs from other groups for Mugen, as long as the character is adapted to suit the group and the application picture and bio are redone.

• No harassment, flaming, troll-like or rude behavior.

• No spamming nor advertising on the front page.  Such things will result in being hidden and a mod will send you a warning.

• No death matches, religious, national and or racial hate inspired artwork.

• Characters created by those in the group are allowed for free use in promoting this project so long as the Mugen logo is shown on the work.

• Please inform us if you leave the group, as well as remove any works from it. This is to prevent any confusion. You can leave work in the galleries that features others’ characters if you wish.

• Any deactivated accounts will be automatically removed from the group unless a valid notice/reason is given prior to the deactivation.

• Art theft will not be tolerated. Tracing and using bases will only be acceptable if, in the case of tracing: a resource was made explicitly to be allowed to be used this way, and in the case of bases: the base was made by a group member for use within the group only.

• Submit to the correct folders.

• If you have any concerns, questions and like, please note the group. Problems are likely to get solved better and faster that way. If not noting the group itself, you can comment within it: you should try to do this on material connected to the subject of your question. Mods should not be contacted directly over group queries.

• Anyone caught violating rules will be given warnings.
    - Upon the 1st and 2nd warnings, you’ll be given a verbal warning. - Upon the 3rd warning, you’ll be banned from the chat for 3 days. - Upon the 4th warning, you’ll be removed from the group and would have to join again next enrollment. * If you are found to be causing trouble again after you re-enter the group, you’ll be permanently banned from it.

Chatroom Rules

• No god modding, power playing, or meta-gaming.

- God Modding- Making your character over-powered and able to do/know everything. It's unfair and a result of poor character construction.

- Power Playing- Deciding the actions of another character yourself.
If your character carries out an action, the result of that action, if affects the other character, should be determined by the other person.
E.g. 'A throws a kick into B and B falls down' should be 'A throws a kick into B', leaving the other character's response open to the person RPing them to decide. This keeps RPs fair.

- Meta-gaming- Having your OC know something that they shouldn't/transferring your own knowledge to the character without the character discovering it on their own (from reading the other character's application bio etc.).

• Keep chats PG-13. If you want to take it beyond that, you must hold it somewhere privately. (Ex: Notes, MSN, Skype, etc. )

• No spamming the chat or advertising deviations unrelated to the group.

• Role play fairly and wisely. You must give others the chance to respond, act, and the like. No one likes to RP with those that don’t give them a chance to feel part of what’s going on.

• If you enter the chatroom and there’s a RP going on, please ask what is happening instead of interrupting out of the blue with your character and you can be given a chance to work your character into the plot.

• Try to be literate as possible while RPing. If people don’t understand how you RP, then they feel less motivated to RP with you. If you have any difficulties with writing, try to make others RPing with you aware of this early on.

• OOC talk should be used with brackets.  (Ex. “((“ or “}}” ) It’s confusing to some to be RPing and see OOC talk without brackets mixed in with the RP lines.

• Keep cursing to a minimum.

• When in the chatroom with multiple people, try to keep from using other languages other than English. Not everyone can speak the same different languages and we want people to feel included, not left out.

• Only Mugen OCs may be allowed to RP in the chatroom.

FAQ

What is Mugen High about?

Mugen High is a fictional, extra-dimensional high school for magical creatures and beings of any type. Anyone with a drop of magic, special abilities, powers, and things of that nature are schooled here no matter their origin, shape, size, age, etc. The school headmaster and staff are always there to help the students develop and grow exponentially.

What is the purpose of Mugen? What will be done in the group?

The purpose is to make an interesting character and let it grow/develop through meeting other characters and participating overall. Pretty much just having fun and improving your own art while you’re at it. Tournaments, events, fun fights (if you so wish) and et cetera will be held at times and any member is free to participate which also involves your chances to improve in your art and maybe storytelling.

Where and when is it set?
It’s a campus set in limbo between universes. There is no timeline; thus it is of past, present, and future.

How do I join?

Simply go to the Character Creation blog and carefully follow the steps. Don’t forget to still read the rules. The more interesting your character is, the more likely it’ll be accepted.

What are events?

Events are activities for members which take place over specified periods of time. They can involve new locations, RP prompts etc. but at their core are there to offer conditions which can challenge and advance members' art and character development skills, and encourage interaction between them.

What are tasks?

Tasks are similar to events but most often come with requirements, which students who get involved need to complete.

What are points?

Points are awarded with every art work or RP log submitted, based on the effort you put into it. See the Point System, sta.sh/219vl5e16pua, to know what kind of work will earn you certain amounts of points. The points will help your character grow to new levels and become stronger.

I’m new to RPing. Is it still okay to join?

Yes. One of the purposes of the group is to meet new people and grow together within the group, so RPing is one of the best ways to get to know others and their characters. We have the front page to ask other members about RPing and you can note others for messenger addresses or meet in the RP chatroom to get other better chances as well.

I can’t draw, but I can write. Can I still be accepted?

Sorry, but no. Although we do accept literature, this is an art based group and many of the group’s activities require visual art of some form. If you’re a pure writer, this isn’t the best group for you.

How many characters are we allowed per person?

Up to 3 students. Keep in mind that you have more work to put in with more than one character, so if you make more than one OC, be prepared to do double to triple the work compared to having one OC.

Is there an age range for the students?

Not really. Very few students are quite old even if they look young. Try not to go overboard, get crazy, or turn pain-stakingly uncreative about it, however.

Can my OC be anything I want?
Of course, as long as it can communicate with others. Once more: Try not to go overboard, get crazy, or turn pain-stakingly uncreative about it. You won’t do yourselves any favors with that.

Do I have to be extremely active in this group?

No, but being active at all is recommended. Being active every now and then is the minimum, however roll calls are set up and not responding to them puts you at risk for being kicked so it’s up to you to be active enough to keep your place in the group.
